Salvation and miracles in Nepal!

In the beginning of last year Marcus and I were in Nepal and met a wonderful pastor and future coordinator called Elijah. We were so happy to finally be able to have Gospel Festivals and Fire Conferences in this fascinating nation.  Then, as we all know, the horrible earthquake took place which deprived the nation of so many precious people including pastor Elijah. This was awful not least to his surviving family. Despite everything that happened Elijah’s son Biraj decided to continue his dad’s pioneer work with church planting. Biraj and his wife Merina contacted us and wanted to have a Gospel festival to reach their hurting people with the gospel.

The 21st of February five Swedes therefore left a cold Sweden to go on a mission adventure to Nepal. After landing with our plane in Kathmandu our trip continued for five more hours on curvy roads until we reached our destination the city of Damauli. During four afternoons we preached in the Gospel festival and during three days on the Fire conference. This time the Gospel festival was smaller and held inside a big hall. First night a smaller crowd came to attend but the last three nights the hall was filled with both Christians and Hindus, all with great needs. The response when the altar call was given was great and every night most of the crowd came forward to receive salvation, deliverance and healing. The volunteers did a great job with the follow up and totally more than 300 sought salvation during the week.

After the salvation prayer we as usual prayed for the sick. The whole Swedish team, together with a lovely German team we met in Damauli, helped to pray for all the sick. Jesus met with the people and did great miracles. Several demon possessed testified about deliverance. One woman that we saw manifest every night came forward the last night and testified how she had been totally delivered from the darkness that had held her bound for so many years. Another woman came walking with the help of two sticks but happily shared with the crowd how she now was healed and had no need of her sticks anymore. One young man came with pain in his whole body but now ran to and fro on the stage to testify what Jesus had done for him. Several others testified how Jesus hade healed their eyes and ears and how pain in different parts of their bodies had left.

Marcus and I took turns to teach and preach in the Fire conference. Pastors and leaders had come from both Damauli and the surrounding villages. Every day we could see how the word of God, that is living and active, encouraged them and strengthened their faith. When we came to the third and last day of the conference we could see that something new was lit in their eyes and hearts – hope to bring the gospel to their city and nation. The Fire conference ended in an amazing way with Marcus calling everybody forward to receive prayer. People were laying to the left and to the right slain by the power of the Holy Spirit. Many were filled with the Holy Spirit for the first time and others had a wonderful refill. After the conference the pastors told our Nepali team that they felt strengthen and encouraged and are now ready to continue spreading the kingdom of God in Nepal.
