Think about what you think about
Our thoughts affect our lives more than we can imagine. That is why it is so important for us to think about what we think about. You and I can choose which thoughts we allow in our mind and get rid of wrong thought. Let us choose God's higher thoughts for our lives!

Have you ever thought about what you think about? Research shows us that we are thinking around 65 000 thoughts every day. Most of the thoughts you think today you also thought yesterday, because we people are used to do as we always do. If this research is true or not it still gives us a hint about how important it is what we go around and think about. Many of us go around with wrong thoughts about ourselves, God or about other people.
Our thoughts affect our lives more than we think and that’s why it’s so important to reflect over what we go around and think about. I am convinced that we can deliberately choose which thoughts we allow in our mind and that we can get rid of wrong thoughts that affect our lives negatively. The Bible says: “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ” 2 Corinthians 10:4-5.
Our enemy knows how important our thoughts are and does everything he can to send all kinds of negative thoughts into our minds. The Bible says that he shoots fiery darts against us (Eph 6:16). These fiery darts is not factual darts, but negative and wrong thoughts that contradict the Word of God, which he shoots into our minds. The thoughts are not totally untrue but his strategy is to use our negative circumstances versus the promises of God and make us believe that what we see, hear and experience is the truth rather than the Word of God. Maybe you have been struggling to change your life in some area and it goes very slowly, then the enemy is there immediately to give you his thoughts to give up and make you believe that God is not with you. Maybe a friend has let you down lately and you feel alone, directly the enemy is there to sow in his false thoughts that you are unloved and nobody likes you. Perhaps you experience the calling of God on your life but you see no way to fulfill it, then the enemy comes and shoots his fiery darts that you are not called and you will never do anything for God. It doesn’t matter what we are struggling with in life: health, marriage, provision or self esteem etc. our enemy knows exactly when and how he shall bring us down by shooting his fiery darts into our mind.
If you don’t reflect over what you go around and think about and compare it with what the Word of God says you will easily become a prey for the enemy, which results in you receiving and believing his thoughts as the truth. BUT there is a way to expose him and exchange his negative thoughts to God’s thoughts. In Romans 12:2 it says: “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
To not be “conformed to this world” and become a victim of all these negative thoughts that wants to fill us, we need to renew our mind. There is no better way of renewing our mind than to read the Word of God daily. But don’t stop there. Read the Word of God, memorize it and speak it out loud. Write the promises of God down concerning areas where you need to change your thoughts and put them on your mirror or on your fridge and read them every time you pass. The Word of God changes your thoughts and develops faith in God that He has a wonderful plan for your life. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts” Isaiah 55:8-9.
I encourage you to already today make a decision that from now on you are done with being ruled by negative thoughts no matter where they have come from and how long they have been in your mind. Choose to change your thoughts to God’s higher thoughts for you, your life and your future!
