God-confidence

God has a wonderful plan with your life! One of the strategies of the enemy to stop you from stepping out into this plan is to build up a negative stronghold in your mind that you don't believe anything good about yourself. Whoever you are and how bad self-esteem you may have, you can get a "God-confidence". A God-confidence is not developed by anything you do but when you realize who you already are in and through Jesus...

I long to see more women in the Lord’s service and have therefore asked myself and God why so few women do what they are called to do. Which hindrances need to be removed? I am convinced that one of the most effective strategies our enemy uses that women may not step out into their calling is to build strongholds in their mind that give us a wrong and negative picture of ourselves. Maybe you are one of them that don’t think that you are good enough. Many women I meet is struggling with a low self-esteem and need to exchange it to a confidence in God and a belief in themselves. We need to build up a, what I like to call the made up word, “God-confidence”.

Whoever you are and how bad self-esteem you may have, you can also get a God-confidence. In 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 we read: “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ”. Regardless what strongholds or arguments that the enemy has worked hard to build into your mind, maybe even since your childhood, the weapons you have are mighty to bring down those strongholds and set you free. To build up a God-confidence you need to bring every negative thought about yourself into captivity, i.e. not letting them wandering around freely in your mind, but instead exchange them to God’s thoughts about you.

What are God’s thoughts about you? Everything the word of God has to say about you. God starts already in the book of Genesis with telling you that you are created in His image (Gen 1:26). God is good, loving, strong, creative…and you are created in His image. The word of God says that He has higher ways and thoughts for you (Isa 55:8). God’s word says that you are loved (1 John 4). It says that you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Ps 139:14). The word of God says you are called (2 Tim 1:9). God’s word says that you are chosen (15:16). The word of God says that through Jesus you can do all things (Fil 4:13). The list can be made long with all the marvelous things the word of God has to say about you and me, but we have to read and fill our minds with these lovely truths. When we do that a God-confidence is created. A God-confidence is not built up by anything you do but when you realize who you already are in and through Jesus.

A woman with a God-confidence is difficult to stop. She doesn’t care what other people think and say. She doesn’t compare herself with others. She knows that she doesn’t need to perform to be loved. A woman with a God-confidence has passed the stage where life only is about herself and sees and helps others. She sees every challenge as an opportunity to grow. She doesn’t let mistakes stop her, but rises after every fall. A woman with a God-confidence steps out into all the wonderful things God has planned for her.

Who doesn’t want all these qualities? Don’t let a bad self-esteem and a wrong picture of yourself hinder you any longer. Start already today to through the Word of God build up a God-confidence. Let us be women who do what God has called us to do!
